My name is Devin Jackson and I’d like to represent you in Senate District 45. I grew up in the Bitterroot and served on the Lolo Community Council for 15 years.
That experience showed me that there is a disconnect between my neighbors and our representatives in Helena. That’s why I’m running.
I believe we can work across party lines to make lives better for Montanans:
The last legislature wasted time with extremist bills that did nothing to help working Montanans. Housing relief was turned down in a housing crisis, and mental health care funding was lost during a mental health crisis.
When I get to Helena, I will keep the concerns of Montana families as my top priority.
Reach out to me, because when I go to Helena, I'll work for you.
My dad, a veteran of 83, had a health scare a few years ago. Helping him navigate Medicare and the VA was difficult and time-consuming. Proposals to cut senior services, in-home care, and rising health care costs threaten the security of older adults. I think we need to make it easier, not tougher for Montana seniors.
We need to stop the extreme policies of the last legislature. We must stop passing tax cuts for things like private planes.
The lack of affordable housing and childcare are among the top concerns of people in this District. I'll advocate for good-paying jobs, public education, and access to public lands.
I served the District for 15 years as a member of the Lolo Community Council. During my time as Chair, there were two major fires in the area. I worked with local authorities to inform the community of the situation and along with volunteers, assisted those that had to evacuate.
Tragically, a young man gave his life protecting Lolo from that fire. With the help of Sen. Sands and Rep. Curdy, we took the voices of our neighbors to the state capital and made sure Brent Witham was honored by renaming a stretch of Highway 12 so his sacrifice would never be forgotten.
I know what it takes to make a difference for our community. It‘s time I help make our District‘s voice be heard on the state level.
As an audio engineer and small business owner, I have done work for almost every church, school, and community center in western Montana.
I'm lucky to have a career that covers my bills. That is getting harder for more people in Missoula County every day.
We need careers with solid pay. Plumbers, electricians, and truck drivers. The state used to have good apprenticeship programs, but lately, people go out of state for that training. It's time to elect a working-class legislature that will help the working class afford to stay in Montana.
Training and technology can create the good jobs we need for Montana's future.
